Vision and Strategy: Weaving EHS Into the Fabric of Wyeth
Vice President's Message
Wyeth works hard to create sustainable value for our stakeholders and society. Indeed, our success depends upon conducting our business in a scientifically, financially, socially, and environmentally responsible way. Our progress on the environmental front has been updated for 2008 in this Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) section of our web site, which chronicles Wyeth's efforts toward integrating EHS into all aspects of our operations. Throughout this section, you will find examples and results of work carried out by facility teams, corporate and division staff members, and collaborative cross-functional groups. This team approach has helped us identify opportunities and manage EHS performance as an integral part of our business and strategic planning rather than simply as a compliance-driven activity.
Our management approach to EHS also links directly to Wyeth's Corporate Values of quality, integrity, respect for people, leadership, and collaboration.
One of our most notable achievements is the improvement in our workplace safety performance. In 2007, our lost time injury case rate worldwide was our lowest rate ever recorded, clearly demonstrating that we can achieve a common goal when we harness our collective energies and ideas.
To continue our progress, we are forming the Wyeth Sustainability Coalition in 2009, a cross-functional team that will set our course, identify top priorities, and establish new metrics and goals for the future. This is a significant step in our Company's evolution, toward the integration of sustainability into the core of our operations. By strengthening this transformational process, we pledge to bring creativity and passion to all that we do—to listen, to learn, and to do even more to lead the way to a healthier world.
